Monthly Resolutions

Ok. Monday. Start of the day. And so on. Started the day with English where we... hmm... I forgot what we did. Well, we studied. Oh wait, now I remember! We had to discuss about the English Journalism Board for our school. The newsletter members, including me, had to come up with a name and a logo for the newspaper. We came up with the name 'The Irsyad Tribune'. We wanted to use initials instead but I pointed out another meaning for the word. I drew a sword and a pen emblem and we all agreed. So ok, pretty good start to the day.
Malay. Got scolded in silence by Cikgu Iskandar for our behaviour and thought of mind. But soon, the class came to its original atmosphere... lotsa talk and laughter. During Mathematics, we had the Maths test and I found it really easy. I was very confident with my answers. Hadith later and I did an ok job remembering all the notes and facts. During Lughah, got scolded (yet again) but by Ustd Salehin. I felt that my class was really unruly and unmannerly. I can understand if a teacher would be furious with us. Lastly, Hifz. We just revised. Again, more talk in front of Ustzh Faridah. Sigh...
Additional Maths test was a nightmare. I never thought it would be so confusing. I only got to answer one complete question and a few others. Sigh... thats the last time Im in that class. Oh, Allah...hear my plead. Let me stay in said class. Give me time to develop that skill. After all, it took me more than half a year to understand algebra in Secondary 1. I just need time.
Well then, now, I have a resolution. Or an idea, perhaps. I plan to not write in my blog for a month. Then, I'd have a months full of entries. So, goodbye then for a month.
Wassalam...

Anticipation

In this entry, Im gonna write about today and the day before that, which is yesterday, of course. And so, I start off with yesterday...

Thursday was a blast. Lotsa stuff happened. A few ups and downs but it was ok. I greeted the morning with an hour of Mustolah Hadith. Only revisions. But boys will be boys... Most of the guys kept talking instead of revising. Next, we dived into a fun and interesting lesson of Malay. Mr Iskandar entered the class, exasperated, and told us that there was a group of Indonesian visitors inspecting our class. So, our would be Malay test was postponed and instead, we watched videos. We used an MP3 Recorder for the class. Whilst I was using it, an Indonesian photographer snapped a picture of me...using flash. I was like..."Oh my God". A few minutes later, they left and we continued with the video watching. Soon, class ended. Had a half hour Fiqh session. Again, more revision. Chemistry was both a bummer and a blast. We learned about 'fractional distillation'. It was cool. Then, my group had to be the first to set up the said experiment. I wasnt at all fussed about it. But my group members were like... a bit embarrassed not getting it right. I mean, what was the big deal? And so, lotsa mess-ups. Emotions rise. I couldnt help, or more like I wasnt needed. Sigh... I feel bad that I couldnt help. I was sad. Very sad. Or broken-hearted. I just stood and watched. The set-up was ok. A few things happened in class which made me feel a bit better. A test-tube in our set-up popped up cause air leaked out. Then, another glass equipment, unfortunately, fell and broke into pieces. Hehe... Mr Muneer wasnt so mad. Then, when our set-up actually started, the water tank got full and so Helmi and Hafiz tried to carry it and throw the water in the laboratory sink. Haha... instead, they carried it so unevenly that the water spilled all on the floor. We had Luqman Hakim take a mop and Hafiz mopped up the mess. Well, what d'you know? Wonder Boy Hafiz isnt that good at mopping. Sofiah and Aisyah Said helped guide him to do his work properly. Then, Ziyan's chair toppled. Afterwards, Luqman Hakim broke Mr Muneer's camera. Hehe... what a mess!
Had Lughah lesson and Ustd Salehin showed us an educational clip about 'The Carrot, The Egg and The Coffee Bean'. Its like a life lesson. After Zuhur, we had another Malay class where we did our Malay test. It was ok. Just this one part. Lastly, Tauhid... where we had worksheets for our upcoming Tauhid test. After school, our class was supposed to be rehearsing for the Arabic Program but I got called by Mr Muneer to help clean up the laboratory. Just Abdur Rahman, Rifqi and I. We tidied tables, cleaned beakers and someother stuff too. Abdur Rahman left first for his tuition. Then Rifqi and I. So a note for all, new equipments in the laboratory. Ok, well thats Thursday...
Friday turned out to be a huge roller coaster ride. Today, my class was supposed to be the one who was performing the Arabic Program. I was the host. Along with Taufiq. It was a thrilling moment. I tried to be my normal self and be active with the audience. I did good. Bit of laughter and answers. After that, I received praises from my peers and also friends. Felt good. Had Fiqh, which was only more revisions. Next, Geography, where...yes...we did revisions. Mathematics, more revisions. Ok, so Friday was revision day. I got a bit frustrated when no one would listen to me during Friday prayers. Told them to sit properly, didnt. Told them to wear their 'songkok', didnt. Told them to be quiet, didnt. So I just kept quiet after the 'azan' and listened to the Khutbah. It was about everyone having to be a part of the community. Each person is important to the community. After school, Luqman Nur, Luqman Hakim and I walked to Junction 8. Was a bit moody then, as Luqman Hakim mentioned. Bought some movie cd's and ate at Long John Sliver later, after Abdul Aziz's arrival.
Played basketball at Aziz's house till exhaustion engulfed us. So, we went upstairs to Abdul Aziz's home. We watched clips of 'Sweeney Todd' and after Luqman Hakim left, Luqman Nur and I performed our Asar prayers. Before we left, the three of us talked about shows and stuff. I asked Abdul Aziz if he could send me 'Avatar'. He said he could but I dont know when. When the lift arrived, I mentioned "lift-bending". Haha... when we reached the ground floor, the lift sounded a loud alarm. Luqman Nur and I were surprised. I quoted 'My present to you, Abdul Aziz...'
Luqman Nur walked to his father's work place. I took the bus and went home feeling cheerful and elated.

Getting Ready

The day was great. Lotsa laughter and fun. Tilawah... we had a few people read. Ustd Alainaa planned for us to read next week. A select few students, of course. During Fiqh, we had groupwork and I was forced to work with Akid and Fadil. We had to translate 2 paragraphs worth of arabic words about corporations and bussinnesses. Did I spell that correctly? Ok, dont matter. We had english later on I did a journal entry about Total Defence Day. Short but informative. Onwards to Nahu where I found out I didnt do so bad. I got 60%. Not so bad. I was worse last year. Then, we had discussions during Tafsir on Jihad. Ustd Salehin was absent so Ustd Mahzan took over instead for Lughah. We planned for the Arabic Program. Im the host. Taufiq's the co-host. We're gonna have a Sya'ir, Al-Quran reading and a play about the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Lotsa people dont know...I was like, hey, didnt you have a childhood? So, Hanafiah explained the story. Lunch, Zuhur, then Tafsir again. Just memorising facts from notes, as instructed by Ustd Ruzi. CCA was ok. Secondary 1's, 2's and 3's were supposed to go to the Auditorium for a book review with the Ms Farah Adila of the NLB. We talked about the book 'Sing to the Dawn' by Minfong Ho. I found the book rather short. But its ok. When Mdm Baizah asked for the attendance of the Secondary 3 classes, the Secondary 3 boys shouted out 'HERE!!!' It was so funny. When Ms Farah asked a question, we all pointed to Ali Imran and urged him to go. It was a riot. We stood up and clapped for Ali Imran. Ruzaini's handphone was turned on and it suddenly blared out a rock song whilst a trailer was being played. The Secondary 3 boys tried to muffle the loud sounds with the chorus 'La La La La La' but alas, Mdm Faizah heard it. She confiscated it. At the end of the session, Mdm Baizah commented on our unruly behaviour. Ok ok... When Ms Farah left, we (Secondary 3 boys) said 'Goodbye'. She waved back.
I had a training session for AMC (American Maths Contest) at 5pm. I went to Junction 8 with Luqman Nur and Luqman Hakim and stole some of theirs fries, as usual. Ran back to school and I wasnt at all late. Although, tired I was. Mr Rahmat conducted this lesson. He gave us AMC papers from last year. I had trouble answering but I finished a quarter of the paper. Most of the questions were complicated. Amir Syafiq was very normal about it. He stated equations which the whole class didnt understand. Hafiz and I commented that Amir could be the future Mr Rahmat. I gave him the nickname Amir "Rahmat" Syafiq. Hehe... Im impressed with him.
So, that was my day... Oh, and I thank Aminah for your impression of me as being cute. It's touching... Well then, Wassalam...

Cartoon Craze

Lately my dreams have been short. But last night, I had a dream I was able to remember. And, it's very weird.
Know the cartoon series 'Avatar' and Jackie Chan'? Well, I was in a dream where I was amongst the cartoon characters.
It was dark. I was standing in a huge room, alongside with Jade and Uncle. We had the magical potion to extract talismans from the body of Shendu, who by the way, is lying down, sleeping in front of us. Instinctively, I drove my hands into the beast's back, along with Jade and Uncle. This caused Shendu to wake up in fury. I extracted the Dragon Talisman and the Snake Talisman. Uncle got the Dog and Rooster Talisman whereas Jade got the Ox and Horse Talisman. We ran as fast as we could from Shendu. He was mad, I could tell. But a mis-step caused me to fall down. Shendu took this opportunity and threw me out of window. I stared down at jagged rocks and huge boulders on the ground, hundreds of kilometres below me. But I didn't fall. Uncle carried me and Jade to a nearby valley. There, using the Horse Talisman, we turned Aang, Katara, Souka, Zuko and Toph, who had been turned into stone by Shendu. Just as we healed them, Shendu arrived. I sent him a barrage of fireballs, all dodged easily by Shendu. He dashed at me with lightning speed and punched me straight in the face. I accidentally let go off the Dragon Talisman. Jade tried to get to it but Shendu whizzed in front of her and blasted her. Uncle rescued Jade and flew away, along with Group Avatar. It was between me and Shendu.
He sent five flaming projectiles at me. With graceful elegance, I dodged the projectiles. Fear coarsed in my body. I ran and jumped... and delivered a final flying kick. Shendu fell back. I had won. I collapsed and woke up, moved by my inner battle fought within my sleep...

Sneaky

Today was really good.
Mustolah Hadith was fine with all the writing and the listening. Malay was also good as we had group work. Faraid was alright. We learned about a deceased's will. Chemistry was awesome. We learned about distillation and we had a set-up in class. I helped carry retort stands. It was very messy cause lots of the water spilled on the floor. Mr Muneer ordered me to take tissue paper from the toilet. I checked the 6th storey boys toilet but it was empty. So Mr Muneer had me search the whole school. None of the toilets from the 1st storey to the 7th storey had tissue paper. My school really needs re-fills. So, I went back to class, exhausted, and told the expected. Mr Muneer then told me to look at the toilet near the Auditorium. I entered the place and found the toilet. The tissue paper was there so I pulled as much as I could. Ran back to class and gave it to Mr Muneer. When the class ended, there was still a mess. So, this time, Muhammad accompanied me to the Auditorium toilet. We went to the boys toilet again but only a few handful were taken before it announced emptiness. Soooooooo...you know. There wasn't anyone there. The whole place was empty. With a feeling of sneakiness, Muhammad and I entered the girls toilet. No one was in so we pulled as much and fast as we could. After Muhammad took his share, I hurried my pace. I was so nervous about being caught that I opened the latch to the tissue paper holder. It popped open. Muhammad and I exchanged smiles and laughter. I grabbed the whole tissue paper roll and we ran up to class. Wiped the floor clean and returned to our original class.
During Lughah, we watched more videos of Palestine and the viciousness and inhumanity, not to mention injustice, of the Israelis...along with some American soldiers. Sigh... Poor Palestine. You will be freed 1 day. Studied a story of Baitul Maqdis afterwards. Zuhur was a bit sad. After the prayers ended, Ali Imran, my friend and Imam at that time, asked to us to read Al-Fatihah for his 3 sick family members. Many people sniggered as Ali mentioned his own name. That was such incompetence. I saw Syafiq, a Secondary 2 boy, laugh at the speech. I am going to take a leaf out of a someone's (Friends will know who this is) book and say, "What the hell is wrong with you people?"
The man is asking for you to give his sick family for prayers. And they laugh? How would they like it if they were in Ali's shoes! Such behaviour shows how much heart and compassion they have for their fellow brother! But alas, hopefully, those people will change...
Malay again and this time, we discussed about a play we're going to perform. Tauhid, lastly, was very informative indeed. We talked about Judgement Day and had worksheets about them that we finished just as the bell rang, signalling the end of the day. So, that's my day...=)

"Oh yeah, Secondary 3 Andalusia! We need to get ready for next week's Arabic Program! What are we gonna do???"

Deja Vu

Today was alright. In fact, it turned out a bit different than what I thought it would be.
Tilawah was ok. Ustd Alainaa taught us about 'Al-Ghanan'. Informative, much. Next, Fiqh. I felt a bit sleepy but I tried my utmost to stay awake. Luckily, I was able to catch what Ustd Mahzan said. Englsih came and we listened to songs, which Ms Amnah made us listen and look for verbs and adjectives. Recess, Abdul Rahman Aziz had cheering practice with Wind House so I went alone to the mosque to do my Dhuha. Then, nahu. Lots of Tasrifat revision and later, during Tafsir, we learned about Jihad and its meaning. Lughah was fine. We watched a video about Palestine, where their lands were taken by the ungrateful Israelis. They took those people's lands when the Palestinians had given them land to live on. And also, we saw what the soldiers did to the civilians. Despicable. Ustd Salehin call these people 'Kafir Zionis', the most despicable. Sigh...
Before Zuhr, the Water boys had a rehearsal on how to march. After Zuhr, we had Tafsir again and Ustd Ruzi lengthened our lesson cause we didn't prepare in time. But, we finished quickly. During CCA, there was the Inter-House Cheering Competition. Fire was quite good. Earth, mighty. Wind was great. And we, Water House, had a few blunders. I carried the bin, along with Ziyan. I sang beside Muzzamil. Ali Mukmin shouted 'Water!' out alone. Then, there was also the forgetting of some lines...not me, of course. But we received respect and applauds from the other houses as we had to them. We are Water House. It was ok.
When we got back to class, there was a commotion. Remember last time? Abdul Rahman Rahim got hit on the head with the donation tin thrown by Muzzamil and he bled profuriously. This time, Muhammad threw the tin and hit Muzzamil at his elbow. His skin was cut and peeled. Blood covered the wound. Sigh...
"Deja Vu"...

Recovery

Hello again...
Im a bit down today. Reasons explained further in the entry.
I'll start off with..."Luqman Nur was sick today!!!". Hehe... that's the starting phrase for the entry. On with the story. Arabic Program. This time, it was Sec 4 Bukhara. They were...ok. Well, most of them were shy and not in one flow, sorry to say. But take it as constructive criticism. They are girls... So, my class's turn will be in next two weeks. Hope we do good. Insya Allah... But the program ended in a very disappointing end. As we lined up to leave, Ustd Mustaqim told us that an Irsyadian student had done something bad at the masjid. I wont say what it is but people there will know. Its so sad. Our school is trying hard to make a good name for itself but some exceptionally thick-headed people try to ruin it. Great... That's like, so bad for our school. We still need to pay the $5 million. Sigh... such unfortunate events.
Moving on from that sad info-bite, we were greeted in the morning by a lesson known as Faraidh. It was fine. Ustd Mahzan was a bit tense, perhaps from the news earlier on. But, he was himself again. Cheery and warm Ustd Mahzan. Then, we came across Geography were we learned how to measure gradients. It was fun. Then, recess. Go to usual secret place... And, recess over. I received the Water House cheering lyrics. It was alright, I guess. We came back to find Mr Roslan, awaiting our arrival to a lesson of Maths. We learned Coordinate Geometry. It was easy to understand. Soon, Maths ended and we left for lunch. I went to the mosque with Abdul Rahman Aziz, as always...=)
We laughed a lot. But luckily, we managed to hold it for our sunat prayers. Then, waited for Jemaah prayers. The khutbah was alright. The imam, Ustd Idgham, continued from the last Khutbah about how we can help society, I think. Later, school ended. All the House members had to stay back for cheering practice. Being in Water House, I met up with Siraaj and waited for the others to arrive. While during the cheering and all, Ali Mu'min and Faiz kept pushing me and hurting me. I couldn't stand it so I retaliated. Unfortunately, they were both strong. Sigh... At the end, when everyone could leave, I couldn't help it and I pushed Faiz into the corner. He returned me with a blinding uppercut to my abdomen and a searing kick to me unprotected and recently healed left leg. I simply walked away, fighting back the tears. But it was hard to walk, cause the pain in my leg caused me to limp. Walked to the mosque, entered a toilet cubicle and let it out. It was SO painful. I washed my face and took my wudhu for my Asar prayers. I sat in a corner. Waved at a few people who were going home. Faiz approached and apologised. He asked if my abdomen and leg was ok. Inwardly, yes but I didn't want to worry him so I said no. He asked if I wanted to hit him back but I refused. Hitting him wouldn't bring the pain nor the hurt away. And anyway, it was kind of him to apologise, and that to me was very caring. He left, and a few minutes later, Abdul Rahman Aziz came and sat down beside me. He saw that I was crying and kept quiet. I wasn't in the mood to talk anyway.
After the Asar prayers, walked to the bus-stop with Abdul Rahman Aziz. I was feeling better so we talked about cheering and stuff. He laughed and so did I. Took Bus No. 163, bought 2 packets of 'Maltesers'. Gave 1 to the lonely boy at the playground and came back home feeling myself again.

Braving It

Today was a very eventful day.
Mustolah Hadith was ok. Kinda felt bad about not hafal-ing on Monday. But anyway, later was Malay and it was the usual. Amazing. On came Faraidh. Talked a lot...as in discussions, of course. We revised on 'Tarikah'. All about a deceased's fortune and what to do with it. Then, Chemistry. This time, it was in the lab. It was ok. I was very disappointed as I felt as if I was not needed. I would do something and then they wouldn't need it. So, I just wrote notes about crystallization and evaporation. They saw that I was down and tried to cheer me up. But hey, whats done is done. I returned to class only to find out that Abdul Rahman Rahim, our class chairperson was badly injured. Muzzamil threw the collection tin and it hit Abdul Rahman's face and it cut his forehead. Blood flowed out, I heard. He went back home afterwards. My prayers be with him.
Lughah was fine. Lots of group work. Malay again. Each group had to select a representative to talk in front of the class like a chef and read cooking ingredients. At first, my group chose Adam but then changed their decision changed to me. I was a bit shy to go but Muhammad urged me on (Thanks, Muhammad) so I had something good to write about in this very blog. So, I went in front of the class during my turn. My cheek bones felt like they were gonna crack and my knees were almost at the edge of buckling. But, I held my nerve and tried to be my energetic self. And I succeeded. My group got the highest and to add to the happiness, everyone clapped generously for me.
Lastly, Tauhid. It was alright. I especially liked Ustzh Rabia's story. It was great and interesting. But the overall lesson was pretty interesting.
Stayed back after school to finish my Chemistry paper and took pictures with my Arabic group for the Arabic project. Then, did my Asar prayers at the Muhajirin Mosque and went to Junction 8 with Luqman Nur. Ate at Long John Silver and now, I can properly use the plastic fork and knife. All thanks to Luqman Nur! Thanks be to you and Allah for bestowing me such knowledge...Hehe
Wassalam

Daily Lessons

It's been a great month. And now, February has arrived. And what great fun the last three days have been.
Monday:
It was ok. English was fine. During Malay, Cikgu Iskandar gave the five groups an assignment to make a video about a certain theme, like an interview. Like 'Crimewatch'. Anyway, Maths brought about a very quick-paced revision. Hadith, fair. I forgot my book then but I improvised with a piece of paper. Lughah was usual...good. Mustolah Hadith, I didn't have time to hafal. Sigh...
Tuesday:
English, still ok. We had to do a journal entry about 'Head or Heart?'. Then, during Maths, the test was ok. Physics was alright. We summarised Unit 1, Measurements. Malay, nothing much. Fiqh was usual, umm... talk talk, discuss discuss. Quran, I got to hafal the 3rd page of Yassin and Im now Im on the 4th page. Lastly, Nahu started off with a new topic. 'Bakiyyah Al-Jawaazim'. And that's that...
Wednesday:
In the morning, when I was walking up to the canteen with the others, we saw a P1 boy crying. He fell on his ankle, if my sources are correct. We tried to make him stop crying but he shaked us off. He slided on his butt for quite a distance and still wouldn't go down. So, we left. Went to MPR on the 5th storey for tilawah cause Mahirun group has to. Hehe...Ustd Alaina is teaching us now. Fiqh was great. English, very good. We have to do covers for our english file. Nahu, admirably tolerable. I mustered up the courage to guess and got it wrong but it didn't matter. Tafsir was awesome. I answered some questions correctly. Lughah was fantabulous!!! We had hafalan but it was great cause I already hafal-ed some. Tafsir again...good. CCA was ok. All the houses had cheering sessions/introductions. During most of the session, Farid, Haziq and I told each other 'Yo Momma' jokes. It was funny.
So that's it then.
Recently, my class (Sec3 Andalusia) has lessened the banging of tables. Now, with Muzzamil as the head singer, we sing "I wanna rock! ROCK!!!" chorus again and again. It's cool.
I met Aziz just now and walked around Junction 8. Luqman Nur couldn't come along cause he has Wind House practice. Talked a lot at McDonalds and then went home. Now writing and feeling bored of writing full and admirable english sentences. Maybe I am, maybe Im not.
Well, goodbye then...=)

The Kid in Me

Friday.
That day was a great day. Lots of fun. Lots of stuff that I did.
The day started off with the Arabic Program. It was entertaining and hilarious. I especially liked the act. It's class Sec4 Andalusia, by the way. So next week, it's gonna be Sec4 Bukhara.
Anyway, the day went on and we approached Fiqh hours. There was lots of conversation in the class and it was ok. We were released for lunch just after the lesson ended because there was the 'The Tin Collection' thing. Almost everyone received the tins but some Sec3 boys didn't get them. That was the intention for me. I liked to stay behind. There was about 20-30 boys who didn't go. So, we helped out setting up the mats and stuff. Afterwards, we just fooled around. There was a lot of bottle-caps so I started playing with Luqman Nur. We played until almost all the boys had went off to do something else. So, Luqman Nur left, only to be replaced by 'Arif. He knew how to play and so we played over the mats. The game went like this...
Pass the bottle-cap about 2m away to the other person. The person must catch it but if he drops it, the person who threw the bottle-cap gets a point. It was so fun. Hafizuddeen, Luqman Nur, Zulfaqar and some others watched us play. And so, the game ended 20-13...to 'Arif. Hehe, Im a shooter but not a catcher. But then, more people started playing with the bottle-caps so we went elsewhere. And so, we went to the courtyard and used the podium as a goal area. 'Arif became the keeper. Faiz, Zulfaqar, Ali and I shot bottle-cap after bottle-cap. It was so fun. Then, a dozen of Sec5 boys came and played with paper planes. When they left, I took the planes, went up to the podium and threw the planes. It was so good that the flight took at least 2 sec. After what seemed like a day, we went to the canteen and rested. We bought drinks and after a while, we got into the topic of pronounciation. I told them that 'cowardice' was pronounced with 'ka-were-dis' but they said it was 'ka-were-dice'. I asked Hafiz, Farid, Taufiq, Danish and some others and they all said what 'Arif said. That was it. No one was gonna deny me my sweet victory. I went to Mr Esmadi with the others as the witness and he said what I had been saying for the past 10min. 'Ka-were-dis'. Woo hoo!!! 1-0 to Abdullah! And so, after everyone had returned and after the Friday prayers, Luqman Nur, Luqman Hakim and I went to meet Aziz. Went to Junction 8 and ate at Long John Silver. Then, we rode Bus No. 54 and went to Aziz's house. Went to the usual backyard basketball court and played till our legs wobbled. There was lots of laughter and later on, we shot bottle-caps! Hehe, afterwards, we went upstairs with the intention of doing our Asar prayers when instead, both Luqmans simply wanted to use the computer. At about 6pm, after Luqman Hakim left, I did my Asar prayers and went back home, along with Luqman Nur. It was a great day...=)
