The Last Day of November

Yawn...
I have no idea what to write right now. Well, the holidays aren't what I expected. They're ahh...lacking excitement and fun. The only plus side is...I can stay up late. Really late. But after a while, it gets boring.
Hmmm...the boys ( Sec 1 Ihsan classmates ) dont have an all-boys hang-out thing or anything. See...we're not that social. Cool guys hang out with the cool guys. Clever guys hang out with the clever guys. Normal guys hang out with normal guys. You see?
"Sigh"...I guess this is an unexpected turnout for the holidays. Boys at home. Guess I'll be counting the days till Christmas and..."sigh"...school.

En-Blocks

Power.

Something that could cause devastation in the wrong hands and peace in the hands of justice. Yes, power is a big responsibility. Now, the one with the power, excluding God, of course, is the government. They have the authority to rise and lower taxes. They may prosecute wrong-doers at will. And they have the finance to buy huge amounts of land.

In this entry, Im here to talk about "En-Blocks". I heard last night about them. It didn't sound too good. My parents said that if the government were to ever want our block, we might have to move.

Yes, move...

I know there are better things involved overall. But really...I've been living in this house for my whole life. I don't want to leave just because it can be cleared for something else. Or because some other rich people bought it. If rising taxes weren't enough, this just had to happen. My house is the only thing I have to impress my friends and family. Aside from my parents cooking skills, this is the only thing I've got. I don't have any special skills. I don't have a huge vault filled with tons of cash in it. All I have are parents. If God takes them away...then Im pretty much alone. Some of my uncles and aunts don't think that Im anything. Resent could be another word.
So you see...if everything meaningful in my life gets taken away, Im pretty much alone.

Alone....

The Days before the holidays which I forgot to mention...

How do we forget our friends?

Maybe because of some grander stuff. Anyway...during the last day of school, my friends and I decided to go somewhere. That "somewhere" was my house. We spent the time right after the end of our exams to hang out at Marina Bay MRT station. There...we took videos on the almost empty train. After all the running around and all, we decided to finally head for my house.
I didn't think my mother would do anything great and all. But when I came home, I thought about how wrong I was. She prepared for us a batch of grilled chicken. This was just about heaven for us Singaporean kids. Thank God...I love my mother!!! And I won't forget that day...I hope....

Percy Jackson, The Battle of the Labyrinth

Percy Jackson & The Olympians.

One of the best books that I have ever read. Next to Harry Potter, of course.

Anyway...I heard ( or read, for that matter ) that the next Percy Jackson book will be released on the 6th of May 2008. Its called 'Percy Jackson and The Battle of the Labyrinth. Let me share a bit of what I've found out about the book...
In this book, Percy isn't really expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears, pursued by demon cheerleaders, things quickly go from bad to worse.
Time is running out for Percy. War between the gods and the Titans is drawing near. Even Camp Half-Blood isn't safe as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop them, Percy and his friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth, a sprawling underground world with surprises and danger at every turn. Along the way, Percy will discover new friends , confront powerful enemies, find out the truth about the lost god Pan, and face the Titan Lord Kronos's most terrible secret. The final war begins...with The Battle of the Labyrinth!!!

My 4 AM Routine

Have you ever stayed up till 4 AM before?

Probably not. But I have. Ever since the 21st of Wednesday, I've been staying up till 4 AM every single day. Its better than I imagined it. Everyday, I see the sun rise. Its simply beautiful.

And...the whole day seems longer. I can spend more time with my favourite activities. However, whenever I get a chance to doze even by a bit, my body will make up for the lost sleep time and will amount to hours of wasted time. Wasted time, indeed. Yawn...these marks the end of this entry then...

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I know Im like...late but I really like this movie and I feel like talking about it. I believe that this series is only getting better with each progressive movie. I was blown away the first time I watched this movie in my room. But, how can you really expect a three-hour movie to capture what took Rowling hundreds of pages to explain. This said, Yates did a great job capturing the spirit of the book. He had me on my seat from the first scene all the way through the end of the movie. Different feelings inside of me escaped through tears and laughter. There were even a few moments where I couldn't breathe from the tension.

What really mad the movie for me was the talent of the actors. As expected, the older cast members deliver some of the best acting England has to offer. People like Emma Thompson had me tearing up. I was especially impressed with how much Dan, Emma and Rupert have improved their acting since the last movie. Dan impressed me the most. His emotions were so raw and genuine.

Well done to the cast and crew! I can't wait for the next one!!

Dreams

Why do we dream??

Two different schools of thought exist as to why we dream. The physiological school, and the psychological school. I heard that dreams help overcome our problems during our sleep.

But...Im not here to explain this to you. I had a dream myself. It happened after I did my Subuh prayers. And the good thing about the dream was that it was quite a long dream. Here's what happened...

"It was dark. Dark like...during the night. Anyway, in front of me was a swimming pool. The atmosphere was serene and quite peaceful. On my right was, amazingly, Rupert and Dan. And on my left was the gorgeous and indescribably beautiful Emma...All of a sudden, she took me into her arms and pulled me into the pool. There we were, floating peacefully on the water. Surprisingly, Dan and Rupert didn't see a thing. Then, I was in another scene, my house. I was still with Emma, Dan and Rupert. We had a long conversation ( Emma and I ). Just before the dream ended, Emma gave me a gentle peck on the cheek and left. Darkness swirled around me. Light fading. The dream had ended...."

This dream is now a great experience to me. Somehow, this dream has a relation with another dream of mine. I do wish this dream will arouse once again. Goodbye then...

Lisa's birthday!

Birthdays...they're great, aren't they?

Of course they are!!

Imagine your whole family in the living room, waiting for you with handful of presents. Imagine a big cake with all the toppings you wish for waiting for you to blow it. Imagine ripping open all the wrapping paper and finding stuff that you crave for. Now that's what fun about birthdays...

Today...it's Sis Lisa's birthday. Mother and I are relishing her visit. Today...she's planning to sleep-over at our house. Its been a long time since she last slept here. Anyway...Im wrapping her gift right now...gotta go!!

The BBQ...

Have you ever waited and longed for something for so long that when it finally happens, it gets cancelled? Maybe not...
But, it did happen to me. The BBQ sleep-over I had longed for...was CANCELLED!!

You know why?

Because the school didn't allow us to!! Did they think that we would wreck the place or do sinful things there??? This is totally UNFAIR!!! Just when my holidays looked bright...just when I feel happy about it...IT GETS CANCELLED!!!!!!!

Why is this happening to ME???? Is it some kind of jinx??? WHY WHY WHY??????

So anyway...since we couldn't have a sleep-over, we had a party instead. Not the kind where there's music or games. There was food...just food...

Well, there were presents for the birthday boys and girls but apart from that, I don't think it's a big enough celebration to mark the day we part. The time when we leave each other...Oh...and the day when Miss Firza ( My English teacher ) leave us...And you know what my classmates did?

They ATE...

Ok ok...I know that I also eat. Every human being does. But they ate as if they'd never eaten before. Plate after plate, they devoured everything within their reach. Alas, a lot of people like to eat...I can't change them...Ah well...guess I'll just spend the holidays doing other stuff...without my friends....

The 2nd Carnival

Take a look at the present Irsyad. Nice, eh?
But, somewhere in the year 2009, a new Irsyad will be built at the previous Muhajirin Mosque's site. I heard that all the facilities at my new school will be better. Although this all sounds kinda great, we're gonna have to share the school with MUIS. So...its gonna be a bit cramped. If it were up to me, I'd rather stay at the present address, which is Newton. This present school is great for having sleep-overs at the school or bootcamps. The surroundings provide great tests for our budding Khalifah-fil Ard's. Anyway, we still got a long way to go. Our school needs around 9 million more to pay for the new school. So far, the school has collected around 7+ million. We're trying our best to collect as much as possible. That's why, we have donations and school carnivals.
Today, Madrasah Al-Irsyad had another carnival. This time, it was among the students. I had a fun time doing my shift. I got to roam around the whole school while selling my class's products. I sold a lot of stuff. Our tin where we kept our coupons were filled to the brim. But, the Peer Tutors were the favourite among the students. They sold name cards and some other stuff...
Oh...not to mention an Ulamaa' from Al-Azhar came to Irsyad. His arabic was indescribably terrific. I've never met those kind of people before.
I ended the day playing soccer with Ruzaini and the others. It was a great day...one that I won't forget...

2nd Carnival of the Year

How many carnivals have there been in my school?

Two...

This next one isn't as big as the last one because it's only between the students in Irsyad. Its gonna be held on the 13th of November, which is tomorrow, actually. Well, with all this publicity, Irsyad might be attracting the attention of the whole islamic community in Singapore. Let's hope that the new Irsyad will be better. But really...it doesn't matter if the state of the school isn't so...good. But, as long as knowledge is taught there, it deserves a title...There you have it then....

Its over...the exams are finally over...

Finally...the exams...are OVER!!

I'm so happy. I'll be happier if I pass all of them. Anyway...now that the exams are over, I can enjoy and wallow in this short moment of bliss.
This afternoon, some friends of mine decided to play soccer. It was pretty thrilling. Let me tell you what happened...
"There I was, securing the midfield area of the street soccer court. The opposing team were leading 1-0. Yet, we continued, hoping that a miracle would happen...
Then, someone from the opposing team kicked the ball out of play. It was our ball. Since I didn't go forward much, I stayed at the back, in case the ball came in my direction. As I was talking to Ali Imran, Ruzaini gave the ball to me and without caring whether I'd score or not, I kicked the ball. There it was. The ball flew majestically over the hands of Ali Mukmin and went straight into the back of the net ( or goalpost, in this case )! I had level-ed the score for my team! It was now 1-1!
A few minutes later, Fadil scored another goal, sealing a win for our team..."

Well, there you have it. An action-packed game, full of thrills and spills. Hope this makes an impression on you. Remember, never say its over till its over. Hmm...I wonder if they're gonna play some soccer again next week...
