Exposed

Its Saturday. I woke up, slightly dazed. I stood up and went to the bathroom and took a shower. Put on my school clothes and went downstairs to continue my speech for the 'Cakap Petah' competition. I left the house around 7.20am, remembering that I had to arrive at school by 7.30am for the P1 Exams for 2010. So, I arrived school around 7.45am. Hehe... the S3's in my class where Abdul Rahman Aziz, Abdul Rahman Rahim, Sakinah Nawwarah, Syaira and Rufaidah. But Abdul Rahman Rahim was absent but we managed. The kids were cute but it took me some time to get used to tell them without helping them. It was ok.
At about 12 something, Cikgu Zulkifli called me and told me to go downstairs and meet him to ride the bus. 15min later, the S5's got down and we all crowded inside the bus, except for Cikgu himself. Arrived at Al=Maa'rif bout 1.20pm. Got in a room for all the contestants and had to right on notes bout what we were gonna talk about. When the competition started, I asked myself how I got myself into this mess. At one point, I even thought of running away. But I couldnt. So, I told myself to take it like a man. I dreaded the worst. I made friends with this one Al-Junied guy named Taharuddin. He was cool.
I was last to go so it was really scary. When I did do it, the 5min given seemed only like 2min. But hey, you cant fight time. I was shaking a bit cause I didnt get to finish my whole story. In the end, the winners of both group A and B were girls from Al-Maa'rif. Sis Hanisah and I got consolations but it was alright for me. Taharuddin also got consolations. After the ordeal, the S5's praised me even though I didnt win 1st or 2nd or 3rd. They all liked the part where I stated that smiling was akhlak and gave them a big smile. So it was all 'Baik ah, Abdullah!' or 'Senyum eh?' and such. Rode the same bus which brought us to Al-Maarif and about 15min later, I found myself back at an empty Irsyad. Did my Asar prayers (Oh, and I did my Zuhr at Al-Maa'rif) and left for home.
Thanks be to Allah for helping me overcome my fears and nervousness...

Split Seconds

Changes in the timetable has been made. Lotsa drastic changes. So anyway, today we started with Nahu. Then, shortly afterwards, recess. I stayed upstairs to continue with my speech writing. Had Malay next and I enjoyed it a lot. We did a mock oral with each other. Then, Maths. Started on a new sub-topic... 'Solving Fractional Equations'. It was ok. Afterwards, Physics. I think I did ok on the test. I couldnt remember some facts. Just some. Again, recess resounded half an hour later. Studied Nahu upstairs. But instead of Zuhr prayers, the change in the timetable meant that we had to do an hour of study again before doing our prayers. Finally, English ended but not in a good manner. We toyed around with the recorders that we were using to record our English mock orals. That resulted in an earful by Ms Amnah. Sigh... Sorry, teacher.
Finally, Zuhr prayers. Then Quran and later Nahu and then after school, PT classes. So thats it with school. Oh, and I did my Asar prayers before leaving.
Whilst on my way back home, I was walking and I came across the usual junction near my house. Then, quick as a flash, two cars smashed into each other. Well, not exactly smashed. Car 1 was going straight whereas Car 2 was turning at the junction. Car 2 was a bit slow and Car 1 could not swerve out of the way. Car 1's left car light got... you know... into pieces and stuff. Glass littered the warm asphalt. Car 2 was hit on the left side of its rear end and was on its side. 6 men came over to help push Car 2 back into a straight position. Meanwhile, a woman contacted the police. I was like wow... Life is seriously fragile.
And thats when I thought... I must repent.

Reluctance?

Sometimes I see my classmates. Brothers in Islam, they are. I love them as they would me. After all, we are all one Ummah... the Ummah of Rasulullah s.a.w... But alas, we are not perfect. We plead to you for forgiveness, O Great One! O Allah, the lowliest of your servant seeks your forgiveness for his sins and of his brothers and sisters!
The Quran, the very words from Allah s.w.t the Almighty, unchanged since the time of Rasulullah s.a.w himself. We should cherish it and praise it and also learn it. To those that dont understand Arabic, a tafsir is they for you. Alhamdulillah, Allah s.w.t has lead me into a madrasah to learn Arabic. Although, sometimes I find that my classmates dont really bother much about the Quran. One time, I was passing by my classmate and saw that he was memorising Surah Yassin. But he was also talking with a friend of his. I asked why he did not continue with his reading. He told me that he was lazy. Masha Allah... I gave him a small smile and left him. So you see, this is our nurturing leaders. As my Quran teacher, Ustd Alainaa said...
"During the end of the world, the words of the Quran reach only a Muslims' throat but not to the heart for the followers will see it as only reading material"
Sigh... O Allah, I plead to you to help my friends. For without them, who will lead the Ummah in the future? O the Concealer, conceal my weakness and theirs. O Bringer of Iman, place Iman in my heart and theirs. O Lord of the Universe, we pray only to you and no one else...

Reflecting Ourselves

I dont understand my classmates. When showed videos of Palestine and Zionism and the Yahuds, they protest and say, 'How dare they?!!' and such. So, we help our brothers and sisters with our Aqidah and prayers. Unfortunately, just today, one action that they did that completely said otherwise of their true behaviour. It was during Fiqh class. Ustd Mahzan was absent so he assigned us worksheets to do. But instead of doing their work, Muzzamil took the broken broomstick and started poking Umar's butt again and again. Some people will know what this describes. Everyone laughed. Asyraf and Fadil took out their cellphones and recorded the whole thing. Fortunately, Muhammad agreed with me about the turning on the phones. He told them to turn it off and so, eventually, they did. Really, is this the behaviour or action of madrasah students? Or better yet, a Muslim? I bit back my tongue from releasing words of hurt and went back to my seat. I started on the translation worksheet. Infront of me, Akid and Danish were banging on the cupboards, making tunes. I tried my best to maintain my voice and said to them what I remembered from a previous Friday prayer khutbah...
"The two privileges that man neglect is health and free time..." Do your homework, I said. They answered with a nonchalant 'ok'. And so, back to the start of the story. If we cannot remain true to Allah s.w.t and His fair rule, how is it that you are able to be mad at the hypocrites when your actions speak otherwise?

Deception

So... its 6:03am. I had just woken up and I was still sore and tired. With all my might, I stretched my hand to the other side of the desk to get me cellphone. Still lying down, I saw the time and thought, ok. I'll just lie down for a while. Thats when I saw myself doing my prayers. More than an hour later, I woke up. Hey, Im not praying. That was just a dream. Argh! Thats when I stormed out of my room and took my ablution and did my Subuh prayers, followed by Dhuha prayers. So you see, this is just an example of the work of the Devil. I was unlucky enough to succumb to their whispers. Oh Allah, forgive me...
So to all readers, learn from my experience and strive to be better... as will I.

What's up?

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.
So ah, finally I'll be to start writing like normal again. Im sure we're all happy to know that, especially me. Anyway, what's up with my life? Well, just so you know, in my class, Taufiq and Helmi got elected to Student Leaders. Congrats! Though, some of my friends asked why I wasnt chosen. Humph, I dont care anyway. In fact, I like the fact that Im free and without responsibilty, for the moment. Umm, I got the highest mark for Faraid's mock test, Alhamdulillah. Ooh, and Im gonna represent Irsyad for the 'Cakap Peta Spontan something something Peraduan'. Something like that. I have to talk about 'Identiti Remaja Islam'. Wish me luck. Father's been a great help, giving me great tips and infos for the talk. To put some downside feeling, Luqman Hakim is really bugging me with his talk of "Ooooh, the world is a trap. Prison. Its miserable." And his annoying 'Remember what I said, Dollah.' Geez, lighten up. And he even said I want attention cause I never received love cause I have no siblings. Now thats somewhere close to the line. I do want attention but thats only because dont even give any attention to me.I know he doesnt care for other people's feelings but please, have some sensitivity in yourself. At that point, I practically left him. Sorry about it Luqman, but it really is true. Just returned from the Photography outing at Macritchie. Only 5 people came, including Mr Izzad. There was Luqman Nur, Mr Izzad, Halim and Shah, along with me. It was ok. Sigh... my heart feels heavy, I dunno why. Grief? Pain? Sorrow? Longing? I have no idea. I end with the sad note that my favourite anime, Toradora, has ended its season. Hope there's gonna be a second one... There's a picture of it below... Well, thats it.
Peace out!

Passing Time

So, time has passed. A month gone. And now, I keep to my word of telling my story. And I am like..."Whoa...Im gonna have to write this?" So ok, Im not gonna write like umm usual. This entry is in accordance to my written posts in my journal. And so, I start off with my story...

"Tuesday 24 Feb,
A good day, I suppose. Started the day being scolded by Ms Amnah during English. Sigh... Im really getting sick of this. Not the fact that we're getting scolded but the fact that my class is unruly, causing the scolding. Well anyway, Maths class quelled my bitterness. It was a quiet lesson, with only the voice of Mr Roslan breaking the silence. The only moment the class laughed, or even made any noise, was when Mr Roslan used the term 'Chicken McDonald' for easy. Even he himself laughed along. During Physics, my group went to the science lab. We got our test results back. I got the lowest among the boys. I was really disappointed. Then, I remembered Ms Amnah's advice. She told us that us boys were now at the age where we could be better than the girls. Maybe Im not maturing fast enough. Maybe...
Had half an hour of Malay and another of Fiqh afterwards. Mostly worksheets and revisions... pretty much. Oh, and we had our Quran test today. I had perfect score, Alhamdulillah. It was very pleasing. We ended the school day with 60 min of Nahu. We learned a new topic, which was 'Na'tul Haqiqii'. I kinda understood the topic very well. I was very happy today. After school, I had a PT class with the Secondary 1's, as usual. In class, Aisyah Said and Aishah-Tul were fooling around, pushing each other. I backed up my chair and offered to catch either one of them it they fell, jokingly of course. They laughed and giggled. Ended the day with a huge smile on my face.

Wednesday 25 Feb
I started the day with a sense of guilt. You know about the saying "Love for the young, respect for the old"? Well, I didnt oblige to it that morning. Here's what happened...

...I was in the bus. It was crowded and full. In front of me, a girl was standing, carrying a bulky bag. She was probably around 11 or 12 years old. I wanted to give her my seat. But my other self was too shy. I just looked down, ashamed at my behaviour. Sigh...

So, with a heavy heart, I alighted and walked to school. First up was tilawah, where Ustd Alainaa reviewed the learned topics. It was cool. Then, I had my Faraidh test. Forgot just a few words on 1 question. Got over that frustation and went into English class. We discussed about the Journalism Club. I was chosen to be the 2nd commentator for the F1 Book Race thing. Had recess and later continued the day with Nahu. We revised yesterday's topic. Onwards to Tafsir class. I did ok for the Tafsir test. My class then had a free hour because Ustd Salehin didnt come to class. Dunno why. We had an...aah..."exhibition" in class, brought to us by the chiefs of the class. You know who. I despised it. I tried to tell them to stop but my status in class wasnt big so I couldnt voice my argument. Lately, I have been in a preachy mood. An hour later, we marked our Tafsir test papers. I got 36/40. Ok... I guess. Then, during White Space Period (WSP), the Secondary 1's and 3's had a briefing of our upcoming Mukhayyam in MPR 3. There a lot of commotion and it eventually led to a scolding by Ustd Idgham. So that pretty much ended Wednesday.

Thursday 26 Feb
Started off with Mustolah Hadith, which felt a bit longer than usual. Had a hard time overcoming the feeling of exhaustion but I prevailed as the winner and managed to write some notes by the end of the lesson. Then, we had Malay class where each group read their best 'Sajak'. I dunno what its called in english but its like a poem read with a lot of feelings and passion. I finished mine during assembly period...hehe. Had half an hour of Fiqh revisions. After breakfast, I had my Chemistry test. I found it ok. We went to the Science Lab and the other groups of Group C did their fractional distillation set-up. My group had already done it so just talked. Syaira said that I reminded her of Chris Brown. That was very... unexpected. 90min later, I had my Lughah test which was a bit challenging as I hadn't had time to study. But I pulled through. Afterwards, I had my Tauhid test. I was very confident with my answers. Thanks be to Allah for helping me. And that would be Thursday.

Friday 27 Feb
To start things off, I say 'Congratulations!' to S3 Bukhara for their awesome performance during the Arabic Program. Husnina did a good job hosting. Mardhiyah was amazing during the Sya'ir. And the others were good too. My class left the Void Deck first cause we had a test. Only minutes passed before Ustd Mahzan entered and commenced the start of the Fiqh test. It was accomplishable. Then, I had my Geography test shortly afterwards. It was invigilated by Ms Amirah, an ex-Irsyadian who graduated a few years ago and is now part of the 'Alumni'. The test was a bit confusing. The writings and labels were a bit small, for me... of course. After recess, we studied a bit of Maths. Still on the topic of 'Coordinate Geometry', and at that time, I found it a bit hard. Received my Maths test paper back and got a satisfying 36/40 and so my resultant score was 77.5%. An A+. After which we entered Contact Time. Mr Roslan left and the pandemonium and chaos began. Most of the aah... not so well-behaved boys yelled and shouted about. Faiz, Bukhari and a few other were brawling at the back. Some were talking unnecessarily loudly and also a few arm-wrestling matches could be seen among the few handphones that were being turned on. I was like... 'Hey, I recall you people calling yourselves matured but come to think of it, you're just the same as kids.' I suppose boys will be boys then. But seriously, I was on the verge of umm... how do you say... burst? Well, I dont see a reason why teachers shouldn't stop complaining about our class. Whilst the 'people' wait for their pizza delivery, Abdul Rahman Aziz and I headed for the mosque. We did our Friday prayers. Oh, and I also wrote some notes from the Khutbah we heard. Feel free to read and learn from it...

Overcoming Challenges with Wisdom:
Anyone who is conscious of Allah, then Allah will find him a way out. And, Iman is not complete without belief in pre-destination. Nothing good or bad is to wrong us or to show our mistakes.
Imam Ibn Hazm... suggested basic needs for the poor and for the rich to contribute.
Ibn Rush... searched to find out the problems of societies.
Imam Al-Ghazali... says that the key to happiness is through knowledge.
Lastly, we do not blame others for difficulties.

Thats it. Its pretty short, what I wrote. After school, Luqman Nur, Luqman Hakim along with Haziq, Aziz and myself, went to Luqman Nur's house. We played Halo and Burnout on Luqman Nur's XBOX and XBOX360. We also ate Canadian Pizza, Meat Lover. Aah... a commemoration to the end of the tests. Well, almost. But thats the end of that.

Sat 28 Feb
Saturday. My second favourite day of the week. No wait, everyday is my favourite day. The fact that Im allowed to see the living world again is a delight indeed. So, umm... well, I didnt do anything constructive today. Simply... ehem... ROME: TOTAL WAR!!! Hehe... I like this kind of games. Games about the past and its wars and conflicts. I feel proud whenever I see my troops in battle fighting one-on-one. Bravery and courage, I say. I dont dig the games involving guns and stuff. They dont interest me. I mean, in war, killing a person from afar is like simply having archers as troops. Shooting from afar and hoping that your bullets hit the enemy. A bit cowardly though since it the age of technology, I cant say much. Hmm... I guess this is where this entry ends.

Sun 1 Mac
Ok... let me see. I didnt do much today. I'll explain my day's work. Wake up, bathe, pray, Tv, Pc, pray, Tv, pray, Pc, pray, Tv, pray, sleep. Wow... wasnt that a short day? Haha... anyway, today is Uncle Baba's wedding party but I didnt go. My blessings and prayers take my place at the event. Hmm... better pack my bag...

Mon 2 Mac
Tilawah was umm... without supervision. Ustd Alaina was absent and there wasnt any relief teacher in place so we all just sat there and talked till class ended. We had English class next. Ms Amnah gave each of us a thin book for us to read. I especially loved this one quote in the book. It reads "If it moves, its biology. If it stinks, its Chemistry. If it doesnt work, its Physics." Hehe... kinda shows a funnier side to these subjects. Later on, we had Malay class where we watched a video of 'Hanyut' concerning unsupervised sex. Had Maths afterwards before I spent an hour studying Hadith. I got 37/40 for the Hadith test. So, whilst others did their retest, I just did my own work and had a short nap. Then, Lughah. Fine lesson, it was. Always is with Ustd Salehin. Had our Mustolah Hadith test and hey presto, school hours ended. But as for me, extra classes. Every Monday, I have Additional Maths classes. Today, we learned about Surds. Its ok. Next week, we're gonna add on more work for Surds. Sigh...

Tue 3 Mac
I think I need a different bag. I mean, with the state my bag is in, I think its inevitable that its funeral is to come. Well, its just a maybe. I hope it doesnt. Anyway, today started off finely with 60min of Englsih class. Had a good time listening and stuff. Then, Maths. We had revisions and assignments on trigonometry. Quran later and just memorised some lines though not in front of Ustd Ruzi. Need to make my memorisations better. Enjoyed as much as I could during recession. On came Physics. We went into the topic of kinematics. We got our test paper back, by the way. Got a miserable 19/30. Had to re-do the test after school. Shucks, I was accompanied by Aisyah Said, Nadhira and Husnina. At least Im not alone, right? So... on with the day. I had Malay lessons and we continued with yesterday's video. Then we got into Faraidh. What did we do...? Hmm... oh yeah! We checked our Faraidh test papers. I got 28/30. Not bad. Went through half hour of Quran again and lastly, I had Nahu class. We studied a new topic called Na'tu As-Sababii. I actually volunteered to answer some questions which is very weird cause Im no good with Nahu. So, school ended but the work didnt. Had my Physics retest with the girls and I finished first. Just hoping for the best. Had to do PT in a different class. I was shipped off to a S2 class with last year's batch that I taught and last year's teacher, Mdm Surianah. I was like... what??? I wanna teach the S1's in Mr Izzad's class! Well anyway, s'ok. I'll get used to it. Did my Asar prayers at the mosque and finally headed home.
Wed 4 Mac
Hehe... today, we started the day very vibrantly. We had tilawah with Ustd Mustaqim replacing Ustd Alaina. We didnt do any reading cause Ustd Mustaqim wanted to show us some videos of kids from other countries reading the Quran. They were all amazing! I especially liked this one boy from Kuwait. Moving on, we checked our Fiqh test papers. I got 28/30. Acceptable. Later, we went through our Englsih test papers. I was 2nd in class with 19.5, beaten by Hanafiah just by 1/2 mark. Ok, at least Im 2nd. Had 30min of Nahu before Tafsir commenced. I got my test paper back. Got umm... 33/40. Then, we continued the revision of Surah Muhammad. During class, Ustd Ruzi separated the class into half. One side took the role of Al-Kafirun whereas the other one as Al-Mu'Minun. I was on Al-Mu'Minun's side. It was fun. Onwards to Lughah where we continued the translation of Baitul Muqaddis, paragraph 3 and 4. After Zuhr prayers, we went through 30min of Tafsir after Lughah before we exited class and went to the Auditorium. There was a briefing about vandalism by Ustd Mustaqim. He showed us one clip caught on the video camera where Ali and Fadil broke a pipe. Along with that clip was pictures of aah... examples of vandalism. Stayed back after school for the S3 nasyid rehearsal and later on, did my Asar prayers and then finally went home.
Thur 5 Mac
Started off with Mustolah Hadith and we did the usual. Just revised on the principles of Hadith. Then we had Malay class (At this point, the entries are just based on my memory). I think we had another discussion about sex. Maybe its the season. Hehe... Fiqh later and I enjoyed listening from one corner, just feeding on every word Ustd Mahzan spoke. Recess, Dhuha prayers and then, Chemistry.
We... hmm... I think we did an experiment. Heating sugar and stuff. Or did we? I cant recall. You see this why I dont write 1 month blogs. This is just trial, by the way... You know what? I think I'll just write the highlights, ok? Sorry, but Im getting sick of not finishing it. Ok, so here goes.
On the 12th and 13th of March, I got a fever measuring around 39 degress celsius. So I kinda had 2 days extra holidays. During the holidays, I simply got better, watched television, used the computer, and maybe watch some home movies. I also did the Malay Project with my group on Wednesday, I think. School started and I felt better, relieved and a bit heavy-hearted. Ok, I'll do better. And so I did. I got a bit quieter in class and maybe at some pont in time, jump around in happiness. Thoughts of friends kept getting further and further. Faiz changed schools to Wak Tanjong. Hehe... good luck to him. And yes, finally, the light! This entry is over!!!
Oh, lastly, please read Al-Fatihah for the following people who passed away in this time period...
-The husband of my second cousin's caretaker
-My aunt in Malaysia
-Zuhailah's Dad
-Ustd Ruzi's Dad
-Ms Amnah's uncle
Thanks...
Wassalam...
